How to install Picasa 3.9 in Ubuntu

Picasa is a very nice photo organizer. It can be used for editing pictures also. But the bad news is picasa is created only for Windows and Mac. But we can install it in Ubuntu. We'll need wine for using picasa in ubuntu. Click here to know how to install wine. After installing wine start terminal by pressing Ctrl+Altr+T. In the terminal write following code and hit enter.

cd ~/ && wget http://dl.google.com/picasa/picasa39-setup.exe

The setup file of Picasa 3.9 will be downloaded in your home folder. Go to your home folder right click on the picasa39-setup.exe file ande select Open With Wine Windows Program Loader. Now complete the installation like windows.

After installing go to dash and search for Picasa. If you find it then start picasa and do your works.

Now try to log in to your picasa account using picasa 3.9. If you face any problem then start the terminal and install Internet Explorer 6 using following command.

WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine sh winetricks -q ie6

After installing Internet Explorer 6 everything should be OK...
